Q: What are your qualifications as a teacher?
A: I not only studied music and education at USC, but also toured the country with the rock band Treadmill Trackstar (www.treadmilltrackstar.com). We would eventually sign a recording contract with Atlantic Records, release a CD nationally and tour the country. After going on hiatus, I began studying jazz, a lifelong interest.
These days, I play as much jazz as I do rock. I also enjoy Latin and Afro-Cuban and as of the spring of 2007, I began studying Big Band music.
Rudimental and concert drum music are interests of mine, as well. I continue to study both playing and teaching with some of the most notable teachers in the southeast, as well as from New York City.

Q: What is your teaching method?
A: I customize my teaching approach to suit the needs of each student. I am inspired to teach by such diverse sources as sports psychologist Dr. Bob Rotella, founder of the Suzuki method Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and various teacher/coaches with whom I have studied.
My holistic approach means that I am as equally concerned with my students' overall learning experience as I am with their learning proper drumming techniques.

Q: What is your policy regarding rescheduling?
A: Up until 24 hours before a scheduled lesson, the student may cancel or change the day or time of the lesson by simply sending me an email or calling my cell: 803.422.5259.
If it is less than 24 hours before a scheduled lesson, the student is responsible for paying for the canceled lesson.
Canceling and rescheduling that is done through e-mail gives us both a written reminder of any changes made to our scheduled lessons. *Rescheduled lessons will mainly occur on days beyond the 28th of each month.

Q: What do I need to bring to my lessons?
A: For the first lesson, you can bring whatever books you might already use in your practicing or for the beginner, just bring yourself. We will discuss what your goals are and decide on an appropriate starting point.
Essential items will be a pair of sticks for practice pad work, a practice pad and a notebook for us to track your progress. Practice pads and sticks are available at Pecknel Music in Five Points (732 Saluda Avenue/803.799.6860).
