Tony began teaching my son, Zach, when he was in the 5th grade; Zach continues his lessons as a sophomore in high school. I appreciate how easily Tony relates to my son, knowing precisely when to challenge and encourage him. He has a very effective and positive method of teaching that has enabled my son to focus, set goals and ultimately place first in our “region” on snare drum two years in a row. Tony was highly recommended. He has been a source of constant support for my son, Christopher. He has spent time teaching him that perseverance and dedication are important as you learn to play the drums and in all other pursuits. Tony has taken the time to get to know who my son is and relates to him to help him achieve. He seems to have an unending amount of patience! In my opinion, Tony teaches the whole child. Learning from Tony has been a rediscovery of sorts while humbling at the same time. I’ve rediscovered my passion for playing the drums and appreciation of music. At the same time, I am humbled by how little I really know about the intricacies of playing this instrument. I’ve been playing the drums for over a decade and have never learned to read music until now! Tony has shown me new perspectives about my playing and abilities, most importantly how to take what I already know and improve on it. His motto of “set yourself up to succeed” not only applies to playing the drums, but also to everyday life lessons. |
